Food & Slaughter
Halal, haram, and slaughter rules.
The default for food is permissibility except what is explicitly forbidden: pork, blood, carrion, and animals slaughtered without Allah’s name. Seafood and plants are generally halal; alcohol is haram in all forms.
Dhabihah conditions
- Muslim or People of the Book slaughterer (views differ on Ahl al-Kitāb today)
- Cut throat/esophagus while alive
- Tasmiyah — Bismillah Allahu Akbar
Ingredients
Check labels for gelatin, enzymes, and alcohol-based flavoring. When in doubt, ask scholars or choose alternatives.
