- Verify battery voltage **before** connecting heavy loads.
- Smoke test: motors unloaded first; then wheels on stand.
- Sensor sanity: print raw values; move obstacle and confirm change.
Debugging
- Divide: software vs wiring vs power — swap known-good components.
- Use scope/logic probe for PWM and serial when baud issues suspected.
